Counselor Profile

Jami specializes in students applying to highly selective schools, students interested in a wide range of schools, underrepresented minorities, neurodivergent students, students looking to be recruited through the athletics process, LGBTQ+ students, first-generation college students, and international students.

Jami is a former Associate Dean of Admission at Wesleyan University and Assistant Director of Admissions at Connecticut College. She has also been a college counselor at various institutions, including a New England boarding school, a public charter high school, and is a Director of College Counseling at a small independent school. Through her various roles, Jami has worked with a variety of students, including student-athletes, students looking to apply to visual and performing arts programs, underrepresented minorities, and neurodivergent students.

Jami received her Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College, where she was active in the admissions office as a tour guide and interviewer and was a student-athlete as a varsity softball player. She received her master’s in counseling from Central Connecticut State University. Although Jami began her career in education as a high school U.S. history teacher, she quickly returned to the admissions field as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Connecticut College and later as an Associate Dean of Admission at Wesleyan University. During her time in admissions, Jami worked with students from across the globe and coordinated programming for underrepresented students, first-generation college students, and LGBTQ+ students. She also coordinated tour guides and student interviewers.

Jami uses her vast experience in admissions and counseling to support students and families as they navigate the complex college admissions process. She loves working with students during this transformative time in their lives and gets excited about helping them to uncover what they want their future to look like. Jami loves to ask questions, dive deep into students’ interests, and empower them in their college admissions journeys. She often reminds them that, ultimately, they are the prize in this process and colleges and universities are lucky to have them.

Outside of work, Jami spends time watching sports with her husband and two boys and loves to cuddle with her dog. Jami loves reading, watching television, playing trivia and board games, hiking, and laughing as loudly as possible.
