stanford.jpgColleges Continue to Report Record-Low Admission Rates, Stanford Admits 4.69% of Applicants for the Class of 2020

 

It was another competitive admission season for the class of 2020, with admission rates for the incoming freshman class remaining low and even dropping  from the 2014-15 cycle.

Admission Rates

Stanford University again reported a record-low admission rate of 4.69% for the class of 2020. Last year Stanford became the most selective large university, admitting just 5.05% of applicants.

Other colleges like Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, and MIT also reported dips in their admission rate from last year. Some Ivy League admission rates also dropped this year. As more decisions are released, expect other colleges to report record-low admission rates.

Application Numbers

Once again, many colleges reported a record-high number of applications for the Class of 2020.

Harvard received 39,044 applications for the Class of 2020, a 4.6% increase over last year and a record-high for the Ivy League university. Princeton also reported a record-high number of applications for the 2015-16 admission cycle, receiving 29,313 applications – a 7.4% increase over the year before. NYU reported receiving 63,702 applications – also coming in at a record-high for the institution.
