B.S., Duke University
D.D.S., Columbia University College of Dental Medicine

John specializes in preparation for the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests in Math I and Biology, AP Biology, and AP Psychology.

John has almost a decade’s worth of experience in tutoring and test prep, with an emphasis on SAT, ACT, and biology. At Duke University, John majored in biology and psychology and excelled in the medical sciences, serving as a TA in biology and a volunteer math tutor for local Durham, NC students.

As a sophomore in high school, John was recruited by a test prep agency through which he taught students in Seoul, Korea via an online classroom. A year later, John transitioned to one-on-one private tutoring in an effort to provide a more tailored curriculum for his students. One of his favorite teaching moments came during his first few years tutoring, when he learned that a friend he tutored improved his SAT score by over 400 points.

Under the leadership of his mentor at Duke Medical Center, John authored in two National Medical Journals as an undergraduate senior and presented as the only undergraduate at the 5th International Symposium on Focal Therapy and Imaging for Prostate and Kidney Cancer. John went on to continue his medical interests at Columbia Dental in NYC. During his downtime, he tutored students SAT/ACT prep all over the world, including India, Saudi Arabia, and London, and was known for his humorous, effective teaching methods.

John enjoys volunteering his time to those in need, after spending a summer in college constructing and installing adequate home ventilation systems in rural villages of Peru. He has also volunteered in medical missions to South Korea, Brazil, Panama, and most recently, Cambodia.

Currently, John is a resident pediatric dental specialist at Jacobi Medical Center. Despite his challenging schedule, John continues to teach, as he believes the greatest doctors and dentists are those who not only treat, but also educate their patients.
