Richard specializes in preparation for the SAT and ACT, and academic support in French, history, literature, and academic writing. He also mentors students on topics relating to non-profit organizations and philanthropy.

Richard is a teacher and social entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in SAT and ACT prep, mentoring students with interests in gaining experience with non-profit organizations and philanthropy, and tutoring for history and literature.

As a teacher and tutor, Richard emphasizes dialogue with each student to ensure that what they are studying is both of interest and the best possible material for the kind of progress that the student wants to make. He has taught at institutions including the University of California-Davis and the National University of Rwanda, and continues to teach, drawing from a love of learning and helping students to unlock their full potential and realize their dreams over time.

Richard also served as the co-founder and Dean of the Bridge2Rwanda Scholars program, a leading preparation and scholarship program for outstanding African students based in Rwanda. Through this program, Richard’s students have accepted more than $70 million in college scholarships. His students have attended all of the Ivy League schools, Stanford, MIT, the University of Chicago, and Vanderbilt, among many world class universities. Multiple students have been named finalists for the Rhodes Scholarship for their country, and in 2020, one of Richard’s past students was named the first Rhodes Scholar ever from his country, Rwanda.

Richard is based in Chicago and currently serves as the president of a non-profit organization that provided healthcare to more than 80,000 low-income, rural patients in East Africa in 2020 alone. He is delighted to be making an impact for people around the world while at the same time tutoring and helping students all over the world how to explore how they can make an impact and develop a growth mindset, which he considers to be the key to success! In his free time, Richard enjoys playing his favorite sport, squash, exploring Chicago, and keeping in touch with family and friends.
