Tutor Profile
Emilio graduated from Brown University with a dual degree in Applied Mathematics and Theater Arts & Performance Studies. During his undergrad years, Emilio was heavily involved in the international community, leading the Finance team of the Brown International Scholarship Committee (a 501c3 focused on assisting in funding scholarships for international students), and serving as the president of the International Housing Group during his sophomore and junior years. After graduating from Brown, he worked for Bain & Company, consulting for various Fortune 500 companies across a range of industries and project types. Emilio left Bain to focus on acting, and is excited to have a meaningful way to help students, continue exploring math, and pursue his lifelong passion.
Emilio has extensive experience tutoring. In high school, Emilio held unofficial office hours for friends who needed additional support on specific topics in math and science classes. After carrying this arrangement over to college, he began working on math and subject tests with high school students over the summer after his first year, kicking off his experience as a private tutor. Since then, Emilio has worked with students on SAT / ACT preparation, and any and all math topics from basic algebra and geometry all the way through calculus. Emilio finds his work particularly meaningful when he is able to use real-world examples to help his students ground difficult math topics in familiar, relatable, and tailored ways.
When Emilio has free time, he loves to be active, prioritizing exercise and sports with his friends — basketball is his favorite. He also loves watching tv/movies, traveling, cooking, playing games (video games, board games, any form of competition), and learning new skills. Most recently, Emilio has picked up boxing and introductory archery.
