Tutor Profile

Brea specializes in academic support for math and science subjects.

Brea graduated summa cum laude with an honors degree in biomedical engineering and a minor in Spanish for healthcare from the University of Delaware, where she had a full academic scholarship. Throughout undergrad, Brea performed research in tissue engineering and developmental biology, on which she wrote her senior thesis. She further completed a masters degree in biomedical engineering at UD for which she was awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Currently, she is an M.D.-Ph.D. student at the Weill Cornell-Rockefeller-Memorial Sloan Kettering Tri-Institutional program in NYC and is now working on research related to neuroimmune interactions in the intestines.

Brea has been tutoring in mathematics and sciences since high school, where she worked with middle and high school students. During undergrad, she worked as an Honors College Peer Tutor, where she tutored students in a wide range of academic subjects both individually and in groups, and as a TA for various engineering courses. She believes in forming partnerships with her students to continuously reassess their needs and help them realize their full academic potential. Her goal is to direct sessions that are both enjoyable and focused, where manageable tasks and consistent practice build into overcoming academic hurdles.

In her free time, Brea enjoys exploring cafes and restaurants around NYC as well as reading and cycling.
