Counselor Profile

Kimberly specializes in students with learning differences; international students; LGBTQIA students; students seeking admission to U.K. schools; highly selective admissions; and students interested in liberal arts and social sciences, visual and performing arts, STEM, and pre-med.

Kimberly relishes building rapport with students and getting to know them through their interests and passions. She sees herself as not just a counselor, but also a cheerleader in the college process as she helps students build confidence and self-efficacy by identifying their strengths and successes. She loves drawing from her deep understanding of the higher education landscape, both in the U.S. and abroad, to help students identify the institutions that best match their needs, interests, and aspirations.

As a former senior associate director of admission at Vassar College and assistant director of admission at Rice University, Kimberly has highly selective admissions experience. She has also served as director of college counseling at independent schools both in the U.S. and internationally. Additionally, Kimberly worked in a high school for students with language-based learning disabilities. She is highly skilled at supporting students with learning differences and executive functioning challenges, and at identifying colleges with the appropriate learning support programs to enable their success.

During her time in admissions, Kimberly reviewed over 10,000 applications across majors and schools of study, including engineering, visual and performing arts, and Rice University and Baylor School of Medicine’s joint BA/MD program. She intimately understands the admissions process and how admissions officers seek to identify and attract strong, authentic applicants. Additionally, during her career in college counseling, she has visited over 180 colleges and universities in six countries. She has a deep knowledge of schools outside of the U.S., including Canada and mainland Europe.

Kimberly’s favorite part of the college counseling process is getting to know her students as individuals and identifying great schools that fit each student’s unique needs and aspirations, including those they may not have considered before. She loves helping students think outside the box and explore the myriad pathways they can take to reach their goals.

Because she understands the pressures and anxieties that come along with this process, Kimberly leans into the counselor part of her role to help students (and parents!) explore and examine their feelings about this highly transformative time in their lives. She believes in being a partner for everyone who has space in the room, and she values honesty, open lines of communication, and the right amount of levity as she works with her students and families.

Unapologetically type-A (in the most positive way), Kimberly enjoys collaborating with students and families to craft a structured application plan to make the process feel manageable and empowering for students. She can approach the process from a distinct institutional and operational lens that helps families better understand the admissions process and what is happening behind the curtain, which can help alleviate some of the anxiety many families feel.

Kimberly holds a B.A. in Psychology from Vassar College and an Ed.M. in Higher Education from Harvard University. She credits both institutions for shaping her into a lifelong learner, a necessary skill in the ever-evolving field of college admissions counseling.

Kimberly lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and two mini Goldendoodles. In her free time, you can find her singing in a local community chorus, exploring the diverse culinary offerings across NYC’s five boroughs, or reading a fantasy epic on the couch.
