Counselor Profile

Dashawn is a former assistant director of undergraduate admissions at Georgetown.

During his time at Georgetown, Dashawn reviewed thousands of applications across all six undergraduate schools and served as chair of an admissions committee, helping shape admissions decisions for prospective students. He also oversaw applications from highly ranked public, private, and Jesuit high schools throughout the Midwest and the Greater Philadelphia area, giving him extensive experience working with students from a wide range of academic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Dashawn earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in counseling at Northwestern University. He also earned a Child & Adolescent Psychology certificate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. As both a former admissions officer and counselor-in-training, Dashawn brings a unique perspective to the college application process, helping students understand not only what selective institutions are looking for, but also how to authentically present themselves in competitive applicant pools.

At Georgetown, Dashawn specialized in recruitment and outreach initiatives that supported students from diverse academic and socioeconomic backgrounds. He partnered with high schools, community-based organizations, and college access programs across the country while helping families better understand admissions, financial aid, student life, and institutional fit. His experience reviewing applications across business, public policy, international affairs, pre-med, humanities, and STEM allows him to provide students with personalized and strategic guidance.

As a counselor, Dashawn is passionate about helping students identify and communicate the deeper story behind their achievements. He especially enjoys working on personal statements and supplemental essays, helping students craft narratives that feel authentic and compelling. He is also a strong advocate for mental health and believes emotional well-being is deeply connected to student success and personal growth.

Dashawn takes a student-centered and relationship-driven approach to counseling, helping students build confidence while creating balanced college lists and manageable timelines.

Outside of counseling, he enjoys cheering for the Chicago Bears; traveling; exploring Washington, D.C.’s food scene; and appreciating art, music, culture, and design.
