Daniel

IvyWise Master Tutor

B.S., Saint Michael’s College
PhD., University of Notre Dame

Daniel specializes in preparation for SAT Subject Tests in Biology (both E and M) and Chemistry and AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Statistics.

Daniel has over a decade of experience tutoring students at both the high school and college levels, with an emphasis on biology and statistics.

Daniel majored in biology at Saint Michael’s College where he earned his B.S. and participated in the on-campus peer tutoring program where he tutored a wide range of subjects including biology, organic chemistry, and English literature. Daniel also served as a teaching assistant for the organic chemistry undergraduate course.

Daniel went on to pursue his Ph.D. in biological sciences at the University of Notre Dame. Daniel specializes in the population genetics of the Northern red oak (Quercus rubra L.) and is associated with several peer reviewed journal articles, three of which directly resulted from his dissertation. However, he found his true passion while serving as a graduate teaching assistant. He taught lab sections of introductory biology, genetics, and aquatic ecology, all of which resulted in confirming his love of teaching.

From there he has taught in a number of different capacities, from an adjunct faculty member to a teacher at a private military boarding school. All of these experiences have helped enrich and inform his approaches in helping young people achieve their academic goals.

Currently, Daniel is a biology teacher at a college preparatory school in Boston, MA, as well as an adjunct faculty member in the distance education where he teaches an array of math courses for both their bachelor and graduate degree programs.

In his free time, Daniel enjoys reading, playing with his two cats, Rags and Sprite, and hiking the hills and mountains of New England.
