IvyWise Master Tutor
B.A., Columbia University
Kelcie specializes in preparation for AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, IB Economics, and high school mathematics.
Kelcie has over a decade of tutoring experience, with an emphasis on economics and the IB program.
Kelcie was born in Virginia but grew up in Colorado, where she attended the local public schools from K-12. Growing up as a competitive swimmer, she was recruited to swim for Columbia University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2018 from Columbia’s Fu Foundation School for Engineering and Applied Sciences with a major in industrial engineering and minors in both economics and philosophy. With her lifelong love of education, she chose to go back to school and is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Michigan.
After completing her undergraduate degree, she was an FX trading analyst and a research analyst at a bulge bracket bank, working in their Institutional Securities’ Fixed Income Research division. In this role, she specialized on US interest rate markets, closely tracking the impact that the Fed’s monetary policy, the government’s fiscal policy, and other macroeconomic events/effects have on interest rates. She also covered USD funding markets and US interest rate derivative markets for her global team.
She first began tutoring when she was an 8th grader, primarily tutoring local elementary and middle school kids in mathematics. By high school, her areas of focus expanded to include sciences, history, and English. During school breaks in college, she tutored high schoolers on the ACT and broader IB program. Also while in college, she began tutoring Columbia University student-athletes in all areas of economics, and she served as a teaching assistant for Econometrics for three consecutive quarters.
Kelcie’s passion for education goes beyond tutoring. Currently, she runs a mentorship program for high school juniors and seniors at the East Side Community High School in the LES. She coordinates the program for 30 mentees and 30 mentors. Further, she prepares monthly sessions that aim to improve resume writing, interview skills, and public speaking skills of these teens.
In her free time, Kelcie likes to hike, golf, ski, swim, play poker, and travel. Her goal is to make it to every continent – 3 more to go!
