Principal College Admissions Counselor
Former Admissions Officer, Stanford University
Danny is a former Admission Officer at Stanford University’s Office of Undergraduate Admission.
At Stanford, Danny was responsible for reading applications from across the US and was a member of the Diversity Outreach team, working to improve admissions outcomes for Latinx, Asian American, LGBT, and undocumented students.
Danny’s passion for youth development comes from his experience in youth advocacy during his undergraduate years at the University of Chicago, where he graduated with a BA in sociology with honors.
Danny graduated with his Master of Public Policy degree with a concentration in social policy from the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Prior to joining the Stanford admissions team, Danny worked as a counselor at a college access and success nonprofit located in the Washington, DC metro area where he worked with students through all aspects of the admissions process. In this role, Danny developed a mentoring approach to his counseling style, viewing the counselor-student relationship as a partnership.
As a counselor, Danny works diligently to build strong rapport with students and families by emphasizing socio-emotional growth in the students he works with and helping them manifest their untapped potential. He has extensive experience working with students in all stages of their college admissions journey, from those just starting to think about college all the way to high school seniors putting finishing touches on their college apps. Danny is a master organizer and quick communicator, and he works well with students that need a strong, guiding hand to set attainable deadlines and goals.
Danny enjoys helping students identify their interests – working with them to determine what they’re truly passionate about and how that factors into their college admissions goals. Danny also enjoys working with students to craft their personal statements as he believes that the best personal essays come from heartfelt places.
In his spare time, you can find Danny taking an early morning Orangetheory Fitness class, perusing blogs for his next dinner or dessert recipe, or playing a plethora of video games on his Nintendo Switch as he watches his cat nap in his cat tree.
