Andy

IvyWise Master Tutor

B.A., Trinity College (CT)
Ed.D., Boston University

Andy specializes in preparation for the SAT and ACT tests as well as SAT Subject Tests in Latin, Literature, and Math levels I and II, and provides academic support for AP Latin and AP Psychology.

Over the last 30 years, as a professor and Doctor of Education and a former Director of College Guidance at two prestigious New England prep schools, Andy has guided over 1,100 families through the daunting (but exciting) maze of the college application, admission, and decision-making process. Now he focuses his energy and experience exclusively on academic and standardized test preparation.

Andy delivers individualized, personal, and specific support for each student’s needs and goals.  His style is warm, genuine, and positive.  His materials are thorough, methodical, and provide skills that will last years beyond the lesson or process.  His methods are comprehensive, based on over 25 years of experience, and provide ongoing feedback to both students and parents.

For the past 9 years, Andy was an Associate Professor in the Counseling, Educational Leadership, and School Psychology department at Rhode Island College in Providence, where he taught aspiring guidance counselors and principals. Frequently published in professional journals, he has offered workshops and been a speaker at national and international conferences. Andy completed his doctoral work at Boston University and undergraduate studies at Trinity College in Connecticut.

When not engaged in academic tutoring and test preparation, you can most likely find Andy working on restoring a 1972 BMW 2002 (“I wanted this car since I was 5 years old. It passes the state inspection, but it still needs body and interior work before riding in it doesn’t embarrass my kids.”). Andy lives outside of Boston where he tirelessly cheers on the Red Sox with his wife of 27 years. His three sons (23, 20, and 16) are his pride and joy.
