Early Guidance
Our Early Guidance programs are designed for high school freshmen, sophomores, and first-semester juniors. With Early Guidance, students get the assistance of an IvyWise counselor to help make the most of high school and be best prepared for the college admissions process.
All guidance programs are customized to your student's individual needs and complement services offered by his or her school counselor. After the Initial Consultation, your student works closely with his or her IvyWise counselor, receiving support, motivation, and guidance in:
-
Selecting courses to ensure a challenging yet appropriate curriculum
-
Solving academic problems
-
Facilitating or improving teacher relationships
-
Identifying and recommending extra-curricular and summer activities
-
Exploring his or her interests
-
Learning how to make an impact in the school and local community
-
Early college counseling
-
Refining and updating academic and personal goals
-
Developing and maintaining the confidence to meet goals
There are several Early Guidance options available to families. Programs vary based on the amount of time your child would like with his or her IvyWise counselor. During the Initial Consultation, your IvyWise counselor will be able to provide a recommendation on the number of hours of Early Guidance that will help your student meet his or her academic and personal goals.
Students may take advantage of our Early Guidance program through the middle of their junior year, and families can complement their Early Guidance program with college admissions counseling during or after the first semester of their junior year.
Testimonials
"You guided our son through his course selection; extracurricular activity selection; summer activities; test preparation; application writing; school visits and final submissions. Along the way, you were able to offer some "tough love" when he needed it and lots of encouragement."
